On Top of the World

Checkmate Lifting & Safety are pleased to have been selected for another prestigious and iconic project on the landmark spire of the Macau Tower Entertainment and Convention Centre.

Known as the “Las Vegas” of the East, Macau is famous for its many casino’s, luxury hotels and the iconic Macau Tower. The Tower boasts the World’s highest bungee jump and the World’s tallest commercially operated tower mast climb system; both operated by the renowned adventure company AJ Hackett.

Working with companies Altisafe and Altitech (Checkmate’s regional distributor and installer based in Hong Kong & Macau), Checkmate’s Vertical Rail System was selected to replace an older cable based fall arrest system on the tower’s mast, and has been fully operational since February 2019.

Tourists and ‘Urban Adventurers’ pay for a guided climb along a series of internal and two external ladders on the tower’s mast. Each is equipped with Checkmate’s Vertical Fall Arrest Rail System along a total length of 100 metres (328ft); topping out at 338 metres (1,076ft); the highest point of the tower’s mast.

Rewarded with breath taking views of Macau and Southern China, the tourists and ‘Urban Adventurers’ clearly understand that Checkmate’s Vertical Rail System plays an essential role in their security, and gives them a safe experience of a life time.
